When David Spring from the University of Lausanne called me, I felt both excited and over stressed!!!
Indeed, he asked me to illustrate the very controversional debate about the Doctorat Honoris Causa the University of Lausanne gave to Mussolini in 1937.
At that time, this recognition echoed around the world and even people from New Zealand wrote to express their dissatisfaction. This subject has been brought back to the front scene several times since then.
This actually inspired me and here were my thoughts for the collage:
– We keep reshuffling the cards
– Some people want to get rid of this subject and some other still want to talk about it
– In french, the King of Spades is called Roi de Pique (Pique from the verb piquer meaning something that stings, that hurts)
I feel deeply proud I could participate in this intense and likely ever(ish)lasting topic. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Many thanks to David Spring from @unilch for giving me his trust to illustrate one of his articles again.
